The Serbian School at St.Lazarus parish

The School is focused not only on

Serbian language and cultural enrichment,

but also to the imparting of social and

family values which are priceless

For the preservation of the Serbian identity, the most crucial factor is the preservation of the Orthodox faith, as it is the strongest identifying factor.

Orthodoxy and Serbian identity are so fully integrated in the national and religious
consciousness of the Serbs, that among them, "Serbian" is used as a synonym for Orthodoxy.

Father Miodrag Peric and Father Rade Radan are conducting religious seminars and their work with young people is monumental.

The Serbian School is organised for the teaching of Scripture, Serbian language and folkdance.
Whilst this combination of subjects may appear bizarre to some, there is an inherent relevance between folkdance, faith and language.

Serbian folkdance expresses the truly Christian experience of unity, of community, of brotherhood.
In traditional song and dance this shared experience comes as a welcome respite from the prevalent secular "me" philosophy, and as such the preservation of

Christian/Serbian culture remains not only justifiable, but more so desirable.

The Serbian School is not the answer to all the problems facing families and children today, however, its value and relevance cannot be overstated.
