The Saint Lazarus Church Choir
'The discipline of piety nourishes the SOUL with divine thoughts. What then is more blessed than to imitate on earth the sacred chorals of angels' choirs: to hasten to prayer at daybreak and to worship the creator with hymns and SPIRITUAL SONGS; and then when the sun shines brightly and we turn to our tasks, praying being our companion at all places, to season our work with hymns as food with salt. For the state of the soul in which there is joy and no sorrow is a blessing bestowed by the consolation of hymns.'
St.Athansius the Great
Our choir joined the world choral family of the Federation of Serbian Choirs!
Our new conductor is Dragana Jovanovic- Milanovic with choral music experience and finalised study for choral directing at Faculty of Musical Arts.
In 1992, the Lazarica Church Choir was established and was under the direction of Slobodan Zivkovic for its first year. Father Rade Radan was choir supporter from the begining and great contributor - soloist with fine voice.
From 1995 Tijana Miljovska, who had sung in the choir from its beginning took over as conductor. Tijana also sings in the Sydney Philharmonia Choir and has had numerous professional engagements with the Australian Opera and other choirs.
Tijana has brought the Lazarica Choir to an enviable standard, particularly since most of its members are not professional or trained singers, but they do have love and dedication. Father Miodrag Peric is musical talent as well and plays important role in latest choir success.
Choir in Orasac   It has been a transforming experience for the singers also, since many of them have learned more about their Orthodox Faith and have had a deeper spiritual experience through singing the Divine Services. The Choir rehearses weekly, singing regularly on Sundays, feastdays and has sung in many Greek, Russian and Serbian churches from Adelaide to Singapore, and prepares recitals for important occasions on the church calendar.
